It has been pleasing to welcome our Senior School students back to school for term 2 and see them immediately engaging in their learning.

Welcome Assemblies
To commence the term all year levels have held a Welcome Assembly during which expectations regarding uniform and the mobile phone and personal devices policy has been shared. A Student Wellbeing Leader has also presented information regarding the upcoming WEC – Wellbeing and Engagement Collection process, with which all young people at Brighton Secondary School will engage.

Senior Study Centre
A reminder that the Senior Study Centre is open to our Year 11 and 12 students for study purposes both before and after school at the following times:

Before School from 8.30am:

  • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday
  • Please note, the Study Centre is not available to students Wednesday morning

After school:

  • Monday – Thursday until 4.30pm

Research Project Parent Evening and Support
Our Research Project Parent Evening will be held on Tuesday 9 May in the Brighton Theatre. Further information has been sent by email to our Year 11 families.

Support with Stage 2 Research Project, a compulsory subject in the SACE, is available after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30pm.

Year Level Updates

This term in week 4, our Year 10 students will have the opportunity to participate in Careers Week. They will engage in a range of activities which will support matching pathways. This work will continue in the home group program.

Our Year 11s are currently working on their first semester of SACE subjects. Year 11 exams will begin on Friday 16 June, week 7 and continue during week 8. Further information regarding the exams, including a detailed timetable will be emailed to families shortly.

For Year 11 students, English, Maths and the Research Project are compulsory subjects, for which students must achieve a C– or higher grade.  For all subjects, our young people need to complete the summative tasks and meet the performance standards for their subjects. This will ensure they achieve the maximum number of SACE credits and are best placed to select Year 12 subjects for 2023.

Given that we are nearly a third of the way into the Year 12 school year, our young people are encouraged to work with their teachers to ensure they are maximizing their learning outcomes.  There can be times during this final year of school during which the workload and rigor can be overwhelming. Please reach out to our Senior School Team at any stage if you feel your young person needs additional support.

We look forward to working in partnership with you to support your young person during Term 2.
