Vocational Education and Training

VET at Brighton Secondary School

What is VET?

Vocational Education and Training (VET) enables students to gain national qualifications while they are at school to support a variety of industry pathways.

VET studies are completed alongside school subjects and contribute to SACE completion.

These qualifications are linked to employment pathways and provide an opportunity for students to develop skills and knowledge preparing them for the work environment.

Expectations for young people completing a VET course

VET courses are delivered at training facilities – families are responsible for transport to and from the training venue.

  • 100% attendance is expected – 1 day a week, trainers value reliability and punctuality
  • Keeping up with schoolwork – balance and time management is crucial to success
