Aboriginal Education
Our Aboriginal learners are supported by our Aboriginal Education Team, consisting of an Aboriginal Secondary Education Transition Officer (ASETO) and Aboriginal Education Teachers (AET) supporting students at each year level.
ASETOs help to build positive relationships between school, students and families with a focus on wellbeing and pathways and work together with our AETs who monitor and support attendance, learning and engagement in school.
The team works alongside our Wellbeing and Year Level teams to provide targeted and timely support for Aboriginal learners’ academic and wellbeing needs. Our team also works closely with teaching staff to support them to develop resources and units of work that incorporate Aboriginal perspectives into the curriculum.

Opportunities
We support Aboriginal learners’ sense of identity and connection to Country and culture through our Year 6 transition program, excursions, incursions and group programs. Each year we participate in STEM Congress and Nunga Tag, and provide opportunities to participate in other cultural experiences as they arise. We offer tutoring for students who would benefit from additional 1:1 support in their learning. We invite our families of Aboriginal learners to connect with the school through our family nights in term 1 and 4, in addition to events for all families.
Pathways
Through One Plan conversations, we support Aboriginal learners to identify their goals and pathways. We work collaboratively with students, families and other teams within the school to provide opportunities for young people to engage in opportunities aligned to their goals, including SAASTA, university information sessions, work experience and volunteering.
Scholarships
We support students and families to apply for a range of scholarship opportunities to support them to achieve their goals. This includes the Walpaara Anpa and Dame Roma Mitchell scholarships for Aboriginal learners in Year 10, and other scholarships open to all students such as STEM scholarships.
Reconciliation Action Plan
In 2023 we began work with staff, students and community members to develop our first Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), which was launched in April 2024. Our RAP reflects our vision for reconciliation within our school and wider community, and outlines commitments we have made as a school to work towards this.

Our RAP working party meets after school on Wednesday of Week 3 and Week 8 every term.
For information on how to join the RAP working party, please contact Makayla Kadow or Sam Kondraciuk.
