Dear Families,
Welcome to Term 3.
We have started the term with a series of assemblies to welcome our students back to school, outline key upcoming events and reinforce a number of expectations.
One of these expectations relates to the mobile phone policy; specifically, for all mobile phones to be ‘off and away’ during the school day. We have been very pleased with the way our students have responded to this policy, which was introduced last term following significant communication and consultation with students, staff and families. As you can read later in this Update, the response has been very positive, and we have noticed improved engagement within classrooms and in the school more generally.
This term there are some key opportunities for us to connect and work in partnership through our Parent-Student-Teacher conversations, the SACE and Career Evening and subject selection processes for 2024. We also have a range of events, outlined in the Key Dates and Calendar, including SALA, State Volleyball Schools Cup and our Music Spectaculars.
We are committed to continually enhancing our communication with families and key platforms for this include our Brighton Brief e-News Community Update, Instagram, Facebook and Daymap, which also enables you to access continuous assessment information. I also recommend our Bright Psych podcast, presented by our school psychologist Danni O’Connor, which provides great insights and advice for parents and caregivers of adolescents.
In the week beginning Monday 31 July you should receive an email or SMS from the Department for Education Parent Survey Team offering you the opportunity complete the annual Department for Education Parent Survey. We encourage you to provide feedback through this important survey.
The survey takes less than 10 minutes and will help us understand:
- what we’re doing well
- where we can improve
- what’s important to you.
