Term 3 Principal’s Message

News & Events 26/07/2024

Welcome back to Term 3 at Brighton Secondary School.

Thank you very much to Kimberley McLean who did a wonderful job as our Principal last term while I was on long service leave.

Along with Kimberley, I’d like to acknowledge Casey Freeman (Deputy Principal), Carly Brooks (Head of Middle School) and Alice Carter (Year 7 Leader) for their excellent leadership in Term 2. We are very fortunate to have significant leadership capacity at Brighton Secondary School.

The end of Term 2 included our inaugural Thrive Week, focusing on providing career and industry immersion activities for our Year 11 students and a Retreat Day for our Year 12 students. You can find more information about these excellent opportunities in this e-news update. We appreciate the work of all staff involved in the organisation and running of Thrive Week activities and especially thank our Student Pathways and Careers Leader, Alana Probert, for her leadership and initiative.

Term 3 is always a very hectic time made more so by extensive planning and preparation being undertaken for the following year. Over the next few weeks, you will receive information about subject selection and course counselling processes for 2025, which will include opportunities for families of senior school students to attend an information evening, which we highly recommend.

The term calendar included in this update provides an insight into the vibrant nature of our school community and the wide range of activities on offer for our young people at Brighton Secondary School. This term we have a myriad of sporting, musical, academic and arts-based events and opportunities, along with our many clubs and activities, as well as the resumption of our Toyodai-Himeji High School exchange visit to Japan later in the term.

Finally, I want to congratulate our Business Leader, Veronica Galati, on being awarded the inaugural Excellence Award for School Business Leaders. Veronica’s outstanding knowledge, skills and commitment have been recognised by her peers through this award, which reflects her exceptional contribution not only at our school but across the system.

We look forward to continuing to work in partnership with you during 2024.
