Term 3 Home Group Program

News & Events 29/08/2024

Our home group program provides a valuable time for students to connect with each other, their teacher and focus on the mandatory Keeping Safe: Child Protection Program (KS:CPC) taught in all government schools in SA.

Home group consists of shorter lessons on Monday and Friday (30 minutes) and a longer dedicated time on Wednesdays (50 minutes).

It is important that students attend these sessions as if they are regular lessons. As well as the KS:CPC content, these sessions are where students receive important messages and information about extra-curricular opportunities and school activities they can get involved in as well as updates and information relevant to the day to day running of the school.

Focus of Term 3

In all year levels, Term 3 has started with a focus on pathways and information to support students to make positive subject selection choices for next year.

In the second part of the term, students will be learning about and contributing to discussions on healthy choices, with a specific focus on the topics of vaping, smoking and alcohol.

This includes a presentation by Encounter Youth for Year 7 & 8s, and sessions with Paul Dillon from DARTA for Years 10 – 12.

Students will also be exploring healthy relationships, including consent, abuse and community supports available.

If at any time you have questions or would like to know more about the Brighton Home Group program, in the first instance, please speak with your student’s home group teacher, or alternatively the sub-school Wellbeing for Learning Leader.
