Tailored Learning

Brighton Secondary School offers a Tailored Learning program that meets the unique developmental needs of our Year 9 and 10 students who have previously faced multiple barriers to accessing mainstream classes. Our program uses a Project-Based Learning approach to explore “real-world’ problems where our students build key dispositions and capabilities that will support them to be successful in their pathways back into mainstream learning, and beyond school.

What the Tailored Learning program offers:

  • A flexible approach to learning where tasks are designed around students’ interests, needs and goals.
  • A focus on Wellbeing – each student will have individual case management and participate in workshops aimed at developing emotional awareness and resilience.
  • Connections to the community – Students will have to option to take part in volunteering opportunities as well as exploring potential career options through work experience.
  • Targeted Literacy and Numeracy interventions
  • Development and strengthening of key life skills to support students outside of school.
