Term 3 commenced with our Week 1 Welcome Assemblies.
At our Welcome Assemblies we reflected on our achievements of Term 2, particularly the engagement of our young people in the Year 12 Retreat and the Thrive Week activities. The participation of our young people in these activities was overwhelmingly positive.
We encouraged our young people to reflect on some of the things they had heard and experienced as they commenced a new term.
The following information was provided to all students in the Senior School at these assemblies:
- The Prefect team reflected on Term 2 events and presented information regarding what was happening in Term 3.
- Brighton Secondary School Expectations and Routines were introduced. The expectations are linked to the school’s ASPIRE values and are visible in every classroom. The expectations were developed to:
- Support students’ understanding of positive, thrive behaviours.
- Help keep our school safe, clean and focused on learning.
Routines support meeting expectations in Learning Spaces and our Steps for Success.
- A routine specifically designed for Toilets was shared. Young people were reminded of the need to use a Hall Pass, being hygienic and keeping spaces clean.
The following was emphasised for each year level:
Year 12
The Theme of the assembly this term was ‘Take Control’.
- Whilst there are many things that young people cannot control: exams, subject requirements, due dates etc. We spoke about focus on controlling the things young people can control, these included:
- SATAC (South Australian Tertiary Admission Centre) applications – young people were encouraged to embrace this process.
- Self Care – Think about how many hours of a part time job are completed as they complete their studies. The time they arrive at school. If they seek feedback from their teachers. Their diet, sleep – all things our young people can control.
Term 3 Holiday Support
A Holiday Support Program for our Year 12 students has been distributed. We strongly encourage our young people to make the most of these opportunities to work with their subject teachers. We look forward to supporting all of our Year 12 students as they get closer to concluding their studies.
You can access the Holiday Support Timetable here
