Term 2 – Principal’s Message

News & Events 3/05/2024

Welcome to Term 2 at Brighton Secondary School! I’m Kimberley McLean, and I’ll be serving as the Principal for this term while Tony Lunniss enjoys some well-deserved long service leave. We extend our best wishes to him for safe travels and a rejuvenating break.

Term 1 was rich with cherished annual traditions like Sports Day, the Swimming Carnival, and the Year 12 Formal. Additionally, we were delighted to introduce new events such as the Extracurricular Clubs and Activities Expo, along with the long-awaited return of our study tour from our sister school, Toyodai-Himeji in Japan.

As we dive into Term 2, we anticipate another dynamic period filled with exciting events and invaluable learning experiences. Many of our students are gearing up for camps, productions, and excursions that will enhance their classroom learning. Our staff are eagerly anticipating two professional learning days, during which we will delve deeper into Restorative Practices and continue our collective journey toward cultural responsiveness.

Term 2 marks a pivotal point in the semester, where we shift gears and focus on translating learning into action. For our Year 12 students, this is especially true. We’re looking forward to the upcoming virtual three-way parent-student-teacher conversations in Week 2. This provides a perfect opportunity for you to connect with your child’s teachers, discuss progress, and explore strategies to support their continued growth and achievement.

We’re excited about the prospects of an engaging and productive term ahead, and we look forward to partnering with you in your child’s educational journey.

Warm regards,

Kimberley McLean
