2024 Regional Music Tour – Wrap Up

News & Events 17/12/2024

In Week 9, our Special Interest Music students hit the road as part of the 2024 Regional Music Tour.

Some 49 students and 7 staff spent 3 days touring and performing in regional towns at local primary schools in Wallaroo, Kadina, Ardrossan and Maitland.

Special mention must go to the younger students who may have been anxious about participating and to the senior students for supporting them.

There was a high element of work involved with 5 performances in 3 days and I particularly enjoyed watching the set-up and pack-up refined into a 15-minute well-oiled machine!

It was obvious in every performance how thrilled the schools were to experience the incredible sound spectrum that only a symphony orchestra can deliver.

Students from reception to Year 10 were thoroughly engaged by our students’ repertoire choices, which were enhanced by the stories, skits and quizzes brilliantly woven through the concert by our comperes.

I was delighted that so many students were able to participate in this low-cost, regional touring opportunity, particularly if instrument choices prevent access to Generations in Jazz.

Of course, there was also plenty of time to have fun together with putt putt golf, bowls, beach cricket, frisbee, table tennis and an epic anti-talent night.

Thanks to music staff Jenny, Alevia, Nic, Lauren, Leah and Emily for performing with the orchestra and doing everything possible to ensure that the tour was a positive experience for every young person involved.
